Trailer systems – solutions for the trailer unit

The diversity of trailers available on the commercial vehicle market is as wide as the diversity of goods they transport. The systems Knorr-Bremse has developed to help its customers use trailer units safe and efficiently are just as varied. These range from trailer-specific braking systems to intelligent braking control, with a broad portfolio of customer-specific functions from chassis level regulation to tire pressure control systems or trailer reversing aids.

Weight and performance-optimized pneumatic disc brakes are the mainstay of the Knorr-Bremse trailer product portfolio. Using a two-piston design, the ST7 (and the somewhat lighter ST6) ensures optimal running performance and braking with an extremely robust, encapsulated caliper bearing. Proven adjuster technology ensures precise clearance, exact activation and low lining wear throughout the entire brake lining cycle. With its single-piston design and low weight of less than 29 kg, the NEXTT® is setting standards in the class up to 20 kNm braking torque. The result is lower energy consumption, along with reduced CO2 emissions.

The second pillar of Knorr-Bremse's trailer product portfolio is braking and chassis control. The iTEBS X trailer EBS module combines the electronic control unit with sensor technology and pneumatic control elements in a single compact assembly, with multiple inputs and outputs that allow it to serve as the hub for braking communication within the trailer and to many different sub-components. These include the trailer information module (TIM), TPMS, iReverse or telematic systems.

The park and shunt valve, which offers an integrated lifting and lowering control (POM) in the latest version, can be used to adjust the height of the loading surface. The modular system, with a Chassis Suspension Module (CSM) and iLvl valve, makes it possible to use a POM valve for both conventional and electro-pneumatic air spring systems with the same system layout.

In addition, Knorr-Bremse offers a wide range of valves for use in trailers.
