Electronic level control – compensate for height differences, optimize load distribution

Whether a height difference between the road surface and the door sill of a bus, the difference between the loading surface and loading ramp for a truck, or optimal load distribution for perfect traction on winter roads – electronic level control can compensate for height and loading differences.

Electronic Level Control (ELC)

ELC uses an electronic controller to offer the main functions of level compensation, level adjustment, lift axle regulation and load distribution for vehicles with air springs.

So-called kneeling can be used, for instance, to lower the level of one side of a bus. This makes it easier for children, older and disabled individuals especially to get in or out of the bus.

In trucks, the system can lift or lower the loading surface to the different heights of loading ramps. Otherwise, just a few centimeters of difference could make it difficult to drive forklifts or lift trucks onto such surfaces.

The ELC can also compensate for an asymmetrical load distribution and optimize traction. Especially in winter driving conditions and in case of ice, achieving the maximum possible traction on the drive axle can be essential to starting off, driving up slippery hills, or maneuvering confidently on curvy roads.
