In Lisieux is situated the Knorr-Bremse Group’s worldwide Center of Competence for actuators and compressors. The location was founded in 1903 and joined the Knorr-Bremse Group in 1987, with the aim of delivering added value to customers and becoming the preferred supplier to commercial vehicle manufacturers. Knorr-Bremse Lisieux is delivering safe and reliable high-quality products and service solutions. The company is also accredited for its commitment to quality, health, safety and environmental standards.

With a strong focus on R&D, the Knorr-Bremse Lisieux development center drives continuous innovation in new technologies in pursuit of market opportunities that will allow further profitable growth. A new test laboratory for compressors was opened in 2002, while in March 2006 the first NG5 pressed brake cylinder was produced. In 2010, Knorr-Bremse Lisieux brought another innovation to market when the first clutch compressor came off the line. More recently, in response to the electrification trend, in 2015 Knorr-Bremse Lisieux started production of screw compressors. This new generation of off-engine compressors is the result of the combined R&D efforts of Knorr-Bremse’s Rail and Truck divisions.

In 2018, more than 880,000 actuators and 375,000 compressors for commercial vehicles were sold. At the same time, growing demand calls for further investment in modernization, boosting the capacity of the assembly lines and further expanding the location to meet customer demands. With over 10,000 square meters, the French factory has become a major economic player in Normandy.
