Social Commitment

Knorr-Bremse Global and Local Care – Asia Pacific

Knorr-Bremse is committed to social and community causes and has a long track record of engagement in social programs.

Knorr-Bremse Global Care is a company-financed organisation that supports aid projects and sees itself as a professional partner for funding development projects around the world. It relies on close cooperation with international and local partner organisations, which are responsible for on-site project management, for ensuring that project implementation focuses on results, and for documenting the projects.

A key objective of Knorr-Bremse Global Care is to promote the independence and individual responsibility of people in need and to fund projects and programs that have a clear focus on results.

Local Care Initiatives – Australia

Knorr-Bremse Australia is involved in a wide range of initiatives to make a positive local impact. These include food drives, matched-giving fundraising events, bushfire relief efforts, and Christmas gift drives for disadvantaged children. Our team has launched a scholarship program in collaboration with the GO Foundation, supporting Indigenous youth in their final years of high school and has also partnered with the Wirrpanda Foundation to offer work experience to Indigenous female students.

Partnership with Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds

The Commercial Vehicle Systems division of Knorr-Bremse Australia proudly partners with Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds, a national non-for-profit organisation focused on improving mental health and wellbeing in the transport, warehousing, and logistics sectors. Through this partnership, Knorr-Bremse’s funding contributes to industry-specific awareness campaigns, training, and resources – helping advance Healthy Heads’ mission of fostering a healthier, more supportive working environment across the sector.

KNORR-BREMSE GLOBAL CARE – OUR HISTORY

Everything started after the tsunami 2004 in South-East Asia. Knorr-Bremse Global Care provided rapid and unbureaucratic aid for emergency relief and reconstruction projects.

The work quickly became more professional and long-term projects were implemented around the world.

In 2012, we began to increase our involvement in countries with Knorr-Bremse sites. Furthermore, we also focused on our funding areas.

In 2016, we focused on ten countries without Knorr-Bremse sites in addition to the Knorr-Bremse location countries. In order to be even more effective, only projects in education...

… and WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) have been funded.

With these two funding areas, we contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals 4 and 6 of the United Nations.

In 2018 two new Knorr-Bremse Global Care organizations were established. In the future, more Knorr-Bremse employees will be involved in Global Care activities.
