With the support of the EU Innovation Fund, Knorr-Bremse is investing in energy-efficient, automated and digital manufacturing technologies, thereby strengthening Germany as a business and production location.
The focus is on creating capacities to produce future innovations that will contribute to the energy-efficient and automated commercial vehicles of tomorrow.
To this end, Knorr-Bremse is expanding its largest site in Europe: the lead plant for the production of commercial vehicle components in Aldersbach will be expanded by a quarter of its current plant area. Construction is scheduled to start in mid-2025 – completion is scheduled for 2027.
The EU Innovation Fund is one of the world's largest funding programmes for the use of innovative net-zero and low-CO2 technologies.

The production site in Aldersbach
The plant in Aldersbach is Knorr-Bremse's largest production site in Germany. Around 2 million disc brakes and over 5 million mechatronic components for braking systems are produced annually at the Aldersbach site. Founded in 1980, the Aldersbach plant has developed over the years into an international plant with over 1,000 employees from over 30 different countries.
